"There are many works throughout music history that are reactions to political events, but in this case it kind of crept up on me. At a certain point, I realized that it was becoming a reflection of a lot of the anxiety and uncertainty of those days... This quartet formed around George Crumb's "Black Angels." The plan was hatched when Dan and Myra carpooled to Suzuki teacher training in Deerfield. They found the other half of the quartet through the Civic Orchestra. Every member of this quartet can be seen outside of the orchestra halls of Chicago performing chamber music of all sorts.
